On March 8th, International Women's Dayis celebrated all over the world.  It’s a time for all of us to reflect on the struggles and accomplishments of the women who came before us, and look forward to the achievements of future generations of women.

Our girls are our future generation.  When they are nurtured and cherished,  their contributions to society are unlimited.   As a young mother, I would look at my two daughters and marvel at their intelligence, creativity and resourcefulness.  I knew without a doubt that they would excel in whatever path they took in life.  And they have!  I think that is why so much of my work as an artist explores the intimate bond between mothers and daughters and a mother's belief in and hope for her children.

Inspiring and supporting girls to be all that they can be, "strong, smart, and bold", is the mission of Girls Inc.TheirGirls' Bill of Rights serves as the driving force for all of their work.  Girls Inc. provides life-changing programs and experiences that empower girls to build leadership skills, overcome gender, economic, and social barriers and create lasting social change. The Girl Effect, is a movement created by the Nike Foundation in collaboration with the NoVo Foundation, United Nations Foundation and Coalition for Adolescent Girls. It is about unleashing the incredible potential of 250 million adolescent girls to eradicate poverty for themselves and the world, by providing them with the necessary resources.  Maria Eitel, the founding CEO and President of the Nike Foundation, explains "Girls are unique change agents. Igniting her potential and transforming her world starts a ripple effect of change - for herself, her family, and her community."
